Deadline looming

This coming Tuesday, in 5 days, at 9.30am I will be submitting my last ever (hopefully) Uni project!! Here's a cheeky snapshot of a print hot off the press this morning...

Tuesday 8 April 2014

Studio day

Stenciling and screen printing on to my digital textile prints with a rainbow of procion print pastes.

Digital vs screen print

Time to screen print some cut outs on to my digital prints...

Montserrat

Some things that happen in your life, as bad as they may seem at the time, help to define you as a person, teach you to become strong and determined, help you to achieve contentment. Some times you have to ride out the rocky to endure the smooth, and you never know, a happiness you never imagined might be right around the corner.

Lone man

A view from a turret. The lonesome man sits some way up in the sky. You get an impression of the scale of the cathedral.

Barcelona

The incredible ceiling of La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona. One of Gaudi's most impressive works, still in production now, nearly a hundres years later. The second time I've seen it, and even more impressive than the first.

Roma

Beautiful Rome I love you nearly as much as my dear Barcelona...

Venice

No filter, just a straight up shot of the Grand Canal in Venice from the Rialto Bridge. Venice is the most picturesque place I have ever been, after Ireland -my mum's Irish;)

Paris, Galeries Lafayette

The beautiful stained glass ceiling of Galeries Lafayette in Paris which I was so lucky to visit during my trip there. Wouldn't it be incredible to see that every day in your place of work?!

Street Photography

I tend to find my inspiration from my surroundings, places I visit, experiences I find myself drawn in to. Here we have probably the most photographed bridge in Paris, a symbol of love and eternity, and something quite the opposite, a stunning scene which I stumbled across whilst meandering from the Louvre.

Combining practices

The beginning of my work combining screen print with digital print. Using black pigment and binder to print intricate stained glass window designs on to my digital prints.

Year 3, Semester 1, Exploratory Project

My first lot of digital prints hot off the press. Exploration for my FMP, photographic manipulations combined with paintings from my references of Gaudi work in Barcelona lead to these floral prints on silk habotai.

Talking about travelling

Since September I have also managed to squeeze in some cheeky little city breaks. I have been to Barcelona, Paris, Venice, and Rome so expect some of my holiday -research trips ;)- snaps uploaded on to here soon...

I have been a very naughty blogger...

...ok so I am just going to take the time to apologise for promises that I have not kept. Back in September I vowed to keep up with my blog and publish my progress throughout my final year of my degree. I have not done this and I am sorry.

Wows third year is hard work for a textile student. *deep breath*

I like to think that I manage to keep a healthy balance of working, studying, socialising, travelling, and just anything that generally helps to make me a better person. This has however, meant that I just have not found the time to blog, also I am addicted to Instagram so that kiiiind of has something to do with it. You can find me here

Thus I have come to the conclusion that this blog needs an overhaul.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all had the time to have a lifestyle blog, sharing all the wonderful places we holiday, party, wine and dine... heck, we needn't have a bad meal ever again in our lives! Well, I have decided that I would like for my blog to take on some sort of 'lifestyle blog come designer forum' role. I love fashion, I love design. I also love RESTAURANTS, cocktail bars, wine, GIN, cooking, LONDON, art galleries, and TRAVELLING equally as much. I don't see how I can't combine all of my loves under one internet-page-roof. Hopefully this way I will be more enthused to blog. There are so many things I would love to share with you all.

Over the next couple of weeks I may be deleting my old posts and replacing them with new ones and hopefully much more 'imagery'. Snippets of the exciting things I have been designing are coming your way!

Now, I have 2 and a half weeks left in the studio, with two weeks of easter thrown in the middle, WISH ME LUCK!! ...yes I am meant to be writing an essay right now *ssshhhhhh*
